Kayla & Alex’s intimate fall backyard wedding was such a joy to be a part of! These two exchanged vows in front of their nearest and dearest, and then celebrated with a lovely dinner. People gave beautiful toasts to the newlyweds, and shared in so much laughter and excitement to commemorate the occasion of these two families coming together. It was a day that felt perfect for this couple. I have so many favorite photos to share, but first a bit of their love story. As far as love stories go, these two have a pretty special one!
I asked Kayla & Alex to share with me one thing they love about each other. Kayla said, “I love how kind, supportive, and calm Alex is. He really keeps me grounded and has helped me not sweat the small stuff as much (a true feat, considering I grew up in a very excitable family, lol). I also love his curiosity and the fact that we laugh together every single day, which is the best.” Alex said, “I love Kayla’s sense of humor. I definitely have a tendency to be a bit overly serious in life and Kayla brings out my silly and carefree side with her humor.”
Kayla & Alex first met at a bar in NYC. This story is such a good one, I can honestly picture it playing out like a movie! Kayla told me, “At the time, I was living on the Lower East Side, and Alex was in White Plains. He happened to be in the city for a coworker’s birthday party, and I was out with a friend at the same place. When I went to get us drinks, my friend wandered off and started chatting with a group of guys—Alex and his friends. She actually thought they were a group of Italians when she approached them, so if it weren’t for that misunderstanding, Alex and I might not have met that night, lol! We ended up chatting for most of the night.”
Alex noted, “I took a small break to go to the bathroom only to find Kayla getting chatted up by some random guy who was showing her what appeared to be professionally shot photos of himself on a local basketball team? Kayla looked at me like she needed to be rescued. So, I came in putting off strong boyfriend energy like “Hey babe, who’s this?” and I think I said something along the lines of “did your Mom get those flowers I sent” or something like that LOL. Anyway, it felt like I was living a real life rom-com in those moments and I’ve never had more confidence before or since…”
Alex told me about how he had planned the proposal. He said, “I wanted to recreate a moment at Pfeiffer Beach we had years before where Kayla described herself as “the happiest I’ve ever been.” Naturally, the world had other plans and the part of the PCH just north of it fell into the ocean ~1 week before we went out there. Once that happened, I basically knew I was going to be ad-libbing it a bit and that I would just make sure we were somewhere by the water during sunset.”
From Kayla’s perspective, she said, “The proposal was honestly epic! We took a trip to California in the spring, and on our first full day, we did the 17-mile drive tour. On the way back to our Airbnb, we stopped at a hiking area along the PCH and followed a trail up to a really beautiful spot (I think it’s Soberanes Point and Whale Peak). It was sunny with a nice breeze, but the trail was uphill, and unfortunately, I’m a sweater, lol. So after taking a moment to cool down on a bench and enjoy the view, I got up to leave because I didn’t want to hog the bench. That’s when Alex told me to hold on for a minute, got down on one knee, and proposed.
Kayla & Alex, thank you so much for having us as a part of your wedding day! It was such a joy to share in this incredible day celebrating you two and your marriage. We love you guys and couldn’t be more excited for you as you start this next chapter! Something tells me it’ll be filled with just as many amazing stories as your other chapters. 🙂 Sending you both the biggest hug and all our love! xoxo
