Their Session: Sayen Gardens Summer Family Session
This Sayen Gardens summer family session was incredibly special to photograph! I photographed Dana & Matt’s wedding at the Rockleigh in October 2023, and this summer I got to photograph them again! But this time with a new addition – Mackenzie!!! Their incredibly cute, happy, and sweet baby girl! Seeing these two in this new role of mom and dad was so special. It means so much to me when I get to reconnect with my couples and document their families and love stories continuing to grow through the years!
We chose Sayen Gardens for our location and it did not disappoint! With some gorgeous hydrangeas and lush greenery, it was such a perfect backdrop for this family session! It happened to be a very hot summer day, so but everyone was a trooper! I can’t wait to share a bunch of my favorites from our shoot, but first, a bit of Dana & Matt’s love story!
Their Love Story
Dana & Matt met during their freshman year of college at the University of Maryland! Dana told me, “We lived 5 doors down from each other in the dorm. But we didn’t really meet until the second semester, which would have been early 2013. While not romantic at first, there was definitely something there and we quickly became very good friends. To this day, our families still tease us because they don’t believe that we were just friends. After about a year of friendship, things shifted and we officially started dating. Since then we graduated, did long distance for 2 years (he was in New Jersey and I was in Ohio), did short distance for a bit over 3 years (both in New Jersey about an hour apart), and then moved in together in Hoboken!”
That’s where it all began. Fast forward 12 years and here they are, married for nearly two years, with the cutest baby girl in the world!

Dana & Matt, it is literally always an absolute highlight when I get to see you guys! Your joy is contagious, and Mackenzie has that same light! I know where she gets it from! 🙂 It was amazing getting to meet your precious baby girl and seeing you guys again! I am so grateful for you, and so happy to see you guys so happy and your family growing! I love you guys! xoxo
