Their Session: Asbury & Deep Cut Gardens Maternity Session

Liz and Matt’s Deep Cut Gardens maternity session was so much fun! We had the most beautiful day, and enjoyed such a fun evening exploring the gorgeous gardens, and picture perfect beach in Asbury Park. The roses at Deep Cut were in full bloom and the perfect backdrop! And we got lucky with the most stunning pastel skies once we hit the beach! Liz and Matt are so sweet together, and I loved celebrating the start of this next chapter with them! I already know their going to be the best parents (and their pup Oakley is going to be the best big brother!) I can’t wait to share all my favorites from this gorgeous session! But first…their love story!

Their Love Story

Liz & Matt first met back in 2013. Liz told me, “It was my senior year at Marist College and his senior year at West Point and were introduced by a mutual friend. We did long distance for a few years before I began moving around the country with Matt and the Army in 2017. From 2017-2020 we lived in 5 different states and Matt deployed overseas twice. In June 2019 we got married. During the pandemic Matt got out of the Army and pursued his MBA and we moved again to Michigan. We are back in New York full time with friends and family. I think Matt and I are both really open to life – experiences, seeing new things, navigating change and challenge and learning from others. We always put each other first.”

Liz continued, “We try to date night once a week. We very much prioritize time together. From living all over and just having each other to spending a lot of time apart – we try to do new things whenever we can – be it a new show, a sporting event, a new dinner spot. When we lived in Colorado we would make a point to hike together once a week. We have a 91 pound golden named Oakley that we love to walk together whenever we can.”

I asked Liz & Matt to share one thing they hope their baby gets from each other. Liz said, “I hope our baby has Matt’s determination and discipline. Matt always gives 100%. He is also so kind and approachable.” And Matt said, “I hope our baby gets Liz’s patience, her caring nature and her ability to follow her gut and be his/herself.”
