New Jersey has so many incredible locations from lush gardens and parks, to one of my favorites, the beach! Lisa and Matt chose to go to Spring Lake at Divine Park and the beach for their engagement session, and it was such a perfect day! I just love how much variety we can get from these spots whether they’re frolicking through the pretty gardens with the gorgeous lake in the background, or stepping out onto the rock jetty looking over the ocean, and even sitting in the sand with a cozy blanket! These two are so sweet and such a blast to hang out with! I loved getting to laugh with them as we explored each new spot we found!
It’s so much fun when I get to photograph old friends, but also amazing when they’re friends with my past couples – Matt and Lisa are actually both! I knew Matt from college at Montclair State University back when he worked at the rec center, which was where I had my first photography job shooting for intramural sports! Matt now works with one of my 2017 brides, Rachel, so when Lisa and Matt saw the photos from their wedding, they reconnected with me that way!
Matt and Lisa met in a broadcasting class at MSU in 2010. They had always remained friends and started dating in 2014. Lisa’s best friend, Laura, always rooted for them and said that they would end up together, so she naturally was there when they went on their first date in 2014! They have been together ever since and even moved in together less than a year into their relationship! They say when you know, you know! 🙂
Lisa told me all about their sweet proposal story! She said, “I am typically the planner at home since I work in events but Matthew did a fantastic job when it came to my proposal. He thought through every single detail and did an amazing job! He got my mom, Laura, and his family involved and they set up a picnic in a park near where we live. Matt and I had planned to go for a run and little did I know that when we reached the picnic blanket that would be where he popped the question! It happened on June 18th, 2017. He also did an amazing job picking out the ring, I never once told him what I wanted (I don’t even think I knew) and I am in love with what he chose.” How special is it that he completely surprised his lady who always knows the plan!
Lisa and Matt, you two are such joy to photograph and hang out with! I know your Maritime Parc wedding day is going to be incredible and such a perfect day that is so totally YOU!
