Alexa & Jake’s Fiddler’s Elbow Summer wedding was filled with lush florals, vibrant pinks and warm colors. It was a picture perfect summer day! We stayed all the way through part of the after party, capturing so much dance floor fun, and late night pizza & ice cream! I can’t get enough of this day, and am loving reliving it all through these photos!
When Alexa and Jake first reached out, they told me a bit about their vision for the day. Alexa said, “We both love the style of Fiddler’s. I was aiming to find a venue that was traditional but a bit rustic/cottage-like (but not a barn) so Fiddler’s was a perfect fit. I think we’ll aim for a cottage/garden aesthetic with some colorful florals. It’s also important to us to incorporate our cultures into the wedding in some way (Jake is Jewish and I’m Italian). This won’t impact the aesthetic, but it’ll be a subtle theme for the party.”
I love when couples really focus on making their day their own and incorporating unique elements of their story, their aesthetic, and their backgrounds! Their wedding day accomplished this perfectly! With some fun traditional elements, lots of dancing – including two beautifully choreographed dances by the newlyweds – and plenty of nods to Bucknell, it truly felt like a Jake and Alexa kinda day! I can’t wait to share so many favorite photos, but first, a bit of their love story.
When I asked these two to share with me one thing they love about each other, they gave really sweet replies. Alexa said, “I love how kind and understanding Jake is. No matter the situation, he is always respectful. That means a lot to me.” Jake said, “Alexa is the most loving person I have ever met. She is incredibly thoughtful, supportive and caring. I love her with my whole heart.”
I asked Alexa how she and Jake first met, and she gave me the inside scoop! She told me, “We met our first semester of freshman year at Bucknell University. We lived in the same dorm and were in the same economics class. After I learned that Jake had previously taken economics in high school, I asked if he could help me with future assignments/studying. This was strictly platonic – he seemed like a smart, easy-going guy and I wanted all the academic help I could get! We slowly built a friendship from there and started dating during the summer before sophomore year. My first instincts about Jake were spot on – he’s the smartest, most easy-going, and kindest person I know. I’m so grateful to have already spent eight years with him and can’t wait to marry him.” I love this story and think it’s so sweet that they started as friends first, and built their relationship foundation from there.
Now for the proposal! You have to hear how Jake popped the question. Alexa tells it best. She said, “Jake’s company hosts an annual charity auction. This year everything being auctioned was listed in an app. Jake had me scroll through the app to see if there was anything I would be interested in. I saw that a sunset cruise out of Chelsea Piers was listed and I thought it would be a great activity for me, Jake and some of his coworkers. Little did I know, Jake had already booked a sunset cruise out Chelsea Piers and showed me that list just to plant the seed in my head! Leading up to the proposal, he built out a whole story about which coworkers I would be meeting. Come time for the cruise, it was just me and Jake on the dock and he proposed. He got me good. We then had a beautiful private sunset cruise together! It was really sweet.”
Alexa & Jake, thank you so much for having us as a part of your wedding day! It was absolutely magical and so special to capture. You two are such a joy, and it was such a highlight celebrating you two! We are so excited for you both and all the adventures and excitement that lies ahead in this next chapter! Sending the biggest hug and all our love! xoxo
