Their Session: Haddonfield NJ Christmas Engagement Session
Silvia & Steven’s Haddonfield NJ Christmas engagement session was something straight out of a hallmark movie! This cute South Jersey town was all decked out for the holidays and created the most stunning, festive backdrop for their engagement session! Silvia is a friend from high school, and it was so fun and so special to get reconnect and get to photograph her and her fiancé, Steven! I had the best time braving the cold with these two to capture the perfect Christmas-y scene for their engagement photos! We walked around downtown capturing the beautifully decorated streets, before finishing with cocktails at Wildfether. It was a dream session!
Their Love Story
I asked Silvia and Steven to share one thing they love about each other. Silvia said, “I love how loyal Steve is to the people he loves. He is a wonderful brother, son, and partner. When I saw how much he loved his family it made me love him more. Especially since my family is such a huge part of my life. I love how we can talk for hours about everything. I love that he’s my best friend.” Steven said he loves that, “Silvia has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met in my life.”
How They Met
Silvia & Steven have a love story to match the sweetness of this romantic holiday session. Silvia told me that they first met through a dating app. She said, “I had been on a number of terrible awkward dates and I had just about given up on dating. I remember telling my family I was completely fine never meeting anyone. Then a few weeks before my 31st birthday I matched with this sweet guy with a cute dimple smile on tinder. September 5th 2021 a day I will never forget (not only because it’s my sister’s birthday) but we met on our first date at Chickie and Pete’s for a 1pm date. This is important because incase the date was a flop we both had plans after our date. That didn’t seem to matter however, we sat and talked for hours…well past our other plans.”
“I used to laugh when people said ‘they just knew’ or that ‘their partner was their soulmate.’ I didn’t believe love could feel that way. But from the moment we met.. I felt an instant wholeness. From the moment we met, I felt like I knew him my whole life. He is my best friend.”
The Proposal
The proposal was just as perfect, even if not everything went exactly to plan! Silvia gave me the inside scoop. She said, “Steve proposed to me in the Bahamas! May 8th. He had asked both my parents and went with them to get my ring. I had no clue! Later on he show me a little paper he had written to TSA that said “ engagement ring be subtle”. The day of he told me we were going off resort to a nice dinner. While we were waiting, a man with a clipboard came and walked us outside to a decorated gazebo on the water set up for two. We hadn’t sat down for a minute before my favorite Elvis song started playing: “I can’t help falling in love with you.” This, he told me had not been the plan. The song was supposed to play after dinner, but before I knew it, he was on his knee holding my hand asking me to marry him.”
“Honestly I love that part of the story because like life.. things don’t always go as planned but somehow the universe has a way of putting you exactly in the right place at the right time when you least expect it.” I couldn’t have said it better myself! I always love hearing about proposals and how the plans didn’t work out exactly as formulated, because it always seems to work out even better! 🙂
