Their Session: Holmdel Park Spring Maternity Session
Rachel and Nick’s Holmdel Park Spring Maternity session was so sweet! There’s something special about these early spring days where the trees are just starting to bloom, the sun hangs around a little longer, and the air feels just a bit warmer. I photographed Rachel and Nick’s wedding back in 2017 at Battleground Country Club, (which somehow feels like only 3 years ago MAX!). It was such an honor to be asked to photograph another big milestone in their love story! They’re going to be welcoming the newest member of their family, a baby boy, at the end of May! A maternity session, featuring their two adorable pups was the perfect way to celebrate! I’m so excited to share these photos! Before we dive in, I’ll share a little more about Rachel & Nick!
Their Love Story
Rachel and Nick met online when Rachel was in college and Nick was starting his career. Rachel said, “Nick sent me a message that caught my attention; it exemplified his wit and sense of humor that keeps me interested to this day, years later. We went on a few dates and both knew early on that this was the real deal!”
I asked them to share with me one thing they love about each other. Rachel said, “I love Nick’s sense of humor and outlook on life. He’s serious when he needs to be but defaults to keeping it light; he doesn’t get bogged down in what other people think and it helps ground me and puts things in perspective.” Nick said, “I love Rachel’s drive, selflessness, and wit. She always puts others before herself. Our brains work similarly; we’re both very analytical which can be a blessing and a curse! But ultimately is a great thing because we see eye-to-eye on most things. She makes me laugh out loud daily and I truly look forward to every day I get to be with her.”
Becoming Parents
And now these two are expecting a baby boy to join their family at the end of May! 🙂 They told me they’re most excited about becoming parents to get to raise a human together! Rachel said, “Working together to make decisions around our child to set him up for the best future possible. We’re excited to start a new chapter of life together and to build memories as a family with our two dogs. We created some chaos last year when we adopted our second dog, Cooper – we’re looking forward to introducing more chaos with a baby! Never a dull moment.”
I asked these two what qualities they hope their baby gets from each of them. They said, “we hope our baby gets Nick’s drive and problem solving skills. When Nick has a goal, he will stop at nothing to achieve it. When Nick is faced with a decision, he is level-headed and able to assess the situation objectively. I’ve never seen him make a bad decision! And we hope our baby gets Rachel’s selflessness and empathy. Rachel is good at reading between the lines to know how people are feeling and always goes the extra mile to ensure those around her are happy. We hope the baby gets his intelligence from both of us!”
