Morgan & Pat’s late summer grassy field engagement session was such a dream! A perfect golden sunset, a grassy field sprinkle with flowers, and beautiful warm weather. It’s everything I could wish for as a photographer! A family friend of Morgan’s graciously allowed us to use their property for photos, and it was incredible to have the most stunning field to use! Morgan & Pat are the sweetest couple, and were so much fun to photograph! We had the best time frolicking through the grass, and I have WAY too many favorite photos to share! But first, a little bit of their love story!
I asked these two to share with me one thing they love about each other. They gave the sweetest answers. Pat said, “what I love about Morgan is her positive attitude and view on the world.” Morgan said, “I love how patient & laid back Pat is with me (& with everything in life!). I’m always so go-go-go. He helps slow me down and make me realize what the more important things in life are.”
I asked Morgan about how she first met Pat. She told me, “we actually went to preschool together, but we didn’t figure this out until years later! Pat transferred into our high school in Junior year. That very first day I saw him, I knew he was the one! I went home and told my whole family I had just met my lobster, lol! My twin sister was dating one of Pat’s best friends at the time. I owe them the credit for getting us to first start hanging out.”
You’ve got to hear their proposal story – it sounds like something straight out of a movie! It’s so sweet. Morgan said, “Pat and I dog sit for my cousins whenever they go on vacation, and this time we were staying at their lake house to watch their two bulldogs while they were away. We planned to meet there on a Tuesday night after work. I was running late, so Pat went over early to let the dogs out and start dinner. Since I was behind, I just threw on my pjs, pulled my hair back in a messy ponytail, and rushed over.”
“My twin sister had just gotten married earlier that month and was actually coming home from her honeymoon that same day, so a proposal wasn’t even on my radar. When I walked in, Pat almost had dinner ready and asked if I wanted to go watch the sunset over the lake. Honestly, it took a lot of convincing because all I wanted was to eat and lay down.”
“As we walked outside, I noticed decorations at the house and was confused—my twin had her bridal shower there months earlier, and I couldn’t figure out why they’d still be up. Then it clicked once I saw the dock lit up with candles and flowers, champagne, an engagement ring float, and even a lobster blanket (lobsters have become our “thing” ever since I told my family Pat was my lobster when I first met him). It was the most special moment—just me and him, completely unexpected, in my pjs, which honestly felt perfect because those cozy nights are our favorite.”
“Right as Pat got down on one knee, the sprinklers turned on (totally by accident), and the bulldogs went wild running through them—it couldn’t have been more us. We ended up burning the dinner since we stayed outside so long and instead had ice cream for dinner that Pat had picked up for me. It truly was the best night ever.”
Morgan & Pat, thank you so much for having me photograph your engagement session, and document such a special season of your love story. You two are the cutest together and an absolute joy to be around! Congratulations on your engagement! I hope you enjoy soaking in every minute of being fiancés! Sending the biggest hug! xoxo
