Newport Green Park Engagement Session | Jen & Spencer

Their Session: Newport Green Park Engagement Session

Jen & Spencer’s Newport Green Park engagement session was a blast! We took photos at the most beautiful rose garden in Newport Green Park and of course along the iconic Jersey City skyline views of NYC! I was so excited that their adorable puppy Jameson, got to join us for the shoot! 🙂 It always makes me so happy when my couples bring their furbabies along for photo sessions! It’s the best!

Jen and Spencer radiate contagious laughter, and are so much fun to be around! Spending the evening with these two felt like hanging out with old friends! I am so excited to share so many favorite images! But first we gotta dive into their love story – trust me it’s a good one! 😉

Their Love Story

When I asked Jen & Spencer to share with me one thing they love about each other, Jen said, “I love Spencer’s witty sense of humor. He always makes me laugh so hard that tears start coming out.” Spencer said, “I love how sweet and kind-hearted Jen is. She always does whatever she can to make others around her happy and would do anything for the people she loves.”

The first time Jen and Spencer officially met was when Jen was on a work trip in Tampa, FL. Spencer used to work in the company’s Tampa office before moving up to Hoboken. Jen said, “I remember him walking up to my desk to introduce himself and thinking he had such a friendly disposition. Little did we know that the next time we would see each other would be at the Hoboken St. Patrick’s celebration. I went with my younger sister and roommate to the Hoboken Pilsener Haus & Biergarten. My family is Irish so we never miss a Paddy’s day celebration! lol While enjoying the band playing, I get a tap on my back from a familiar face. We chatted and danced the majority of the night and as the Irish say, had great craic! After that, it was awhile before we went on our first date. Mostly due to my hesitation of working for the same company. Fast forward a few months later, we see each other at a work event and start talking again. Spencer asked me out to dinner and we had our first date near the Hoboken waterfront at the Ainsworth Restaurant. Since then we have had many fun adventures from weekend trips to the Jersey shore to getting a COVID puppy :)”

The Proposal

Spencer did an amazing job planning a thoughtful proposal despite all the challenges COVID threw his way! I’ll let Jen’s words speak for themselves and get into all the details! Jen told me, “Because of COVID 19, Spencer had to plan the proposal several different times. We were supposed to be going to Barcelona last summer and he was going to do it there. We were supposed to go to Puerto Rico in the fall so his second plan was there. When those trips were cancelled, we decided to spend the summer working from home in my parents vacation house in the Catskills in upstate New York. We had the best time enjoying the quiet, peacefulness of the mountains away from city life. Spencer had planned a trip for Labor Day weekend in Saratoga Springs, about an hour from my parents house, and he surprised me in Congress Park with his proposal. He was taking a photo of me and our puppy Jameson by this fountain surrounded by beautiful flowers. He was about to pull out the ring, but then this random couple walking by offered to take our picture. Once we were posed and about to take the picture, Spencer dropped down on one knee and popped the question. The guy who took our photo was kind enough to put it in video mode to capture the whole moment. Spencer lost his mother earlier in the year, and I feel like she sent that couple to us  to have that moment captured.”
