Dana & Reid’s NY Public Library engagement session was incredible! I loved getting to enjoy a quiet morning in the city just after sunrise. We had the library steps to ourselves, and it was pure magic! These two are so sweet together and so fun to photograph. Their smiles are simply contagious, and their up for anything attitudes made for such amazing photos! I can’t wait to share my many, many favorites! But first, I want to share a little bit of their love story.
I love the story of how Dana and Reid met. Dana told me, “Reid and I met at work and after a year of dancing around each other, he finally asked me out on a date. Ever since then we’ve been inseparable. We’d stay at each other’s places and head into work together only for Reid to take a few laps around the block so nobody got any ideas. Over time we’d let our close work friends in on the secret, but it wasn’t till our engagement that we made things HR official haha. A lot of people had their suspicions but some were still shocked. We are so excited for this next chapter of our lives and are looking forward to everything on the horizon.”
You’ve got to hear how Reid proposed! Dana gave me the inside scoop, starting with a little back story… “When I lived on the Upper East Side, in the mornings we would always walk to the same hole in the wall diner, Viand, for coffee. Then we would head over to Central park and sit by the Bethesda Fountain. It was our weekend ritual and the spot where Reid asked me to officially be his girlfriend (after 6 months of skirting around the subject haha). Eventually we would always jokingly drop hints to each other that if he were to ever pop the question, that would be the place.”
Dana continued the story, “So one Sunday morning in September of this year, we woke up and he said “Do you want to go for a walk in Central Park today?”. I had a feeling this was coming and couldn’t contain my excitement. I screamed “WAIT, IS IT HAPPENING TODAY?! SHOULD I PUT ON A CUTE DRESS??” and from that point on we were laughing and smiling all the way there, both knowing what was coming. We rode the F train up to my old stop, got ice coffees at Viand, and sure enough went straight to the fountain.”
“Reid was shaking so much and we both forgot all the tourists that would be there to add to the pressure. Eventually after enough of a break in the crowds came and he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together! Tons of people started clapping embarrassingly enough, but one adorable Israeli couple came and chased us down and shared a picture they took of the moment it happened. It was such an incredible memory. One that we’ll never forget. We continued our celebrations by having brunch at Tavern on the Green with both of our families. I still to this day don’t know how Reid was able to get my mother to keep the secret.”
Dana & Reid, thank you so much for such a fun morning enjoying some of NYC’s best spots before the busy day began! I had the best time with you two! You’re so much fun to photograph and a it’s a joy to watch they way you two love each other. I am beyond excited for your wedding at Ashford Estate next year! It’s going to be the best! In the meantime soak in every minute of this season being fiances! xoxo
