Their Wedding Day: Park Savoy Winter Wedding
When Caitlin & Evan first reached out to me about photographing their Park Savoy winter wedding, Caitlin told me about their vision. She said, “I want to take advantage of the time of year- picking Emerald and gold as my color inspiration and want a lot of greenery.” I love a winter green color palette! Everything about this wedding day was incredible. We had the most beautiful weather for a December day, and perfect golden light! We went to Frelinghuysen Arboretum for portraits, and it was the most perfect location!
Caitlin & Evan included so many thoughtful elements to make their day really special. I loved that they had an audio guest book at the reception, and an insanely fun dance floor! I have way too many favorite images of their day, I can’t wait to share. But first, a little bit of their love story!
Their Love Story
I asked Caitlin and Evan to share with me one thing they love about each other. They gave such thoughtful answers. Caitlin said, “I love how patient and easygoing Evan is. He’s the best.” And Evan said, “I love her heart and her understanding of me.”
Caitlin and Evan first met at a bar in Morristown called the Laundromat. Caitlin gave me the inside scoop. She said, “I was with my best friend (who will be my maid of honor) and he was with his best friend (who will be his best man). His best man was trying to hit on my maid of honor (but she was already engaged). We were talking and found out we went to the same high school – but realized he graduated high school when I graduated college.. and I laughed at him. (Turn’s out the joke was on me!).”
“His friend said to him “let’s go she has a boyfriend”. Evan thought his friend was talking about me. It didn’t stop him from having his friend insta-stalk me to find my profile and reaching out to see if I wanted to go out. I had never dated a younger guy, so I was a bit hesitant and agreed to meet him for a drink. Our next date he took me out to the dinner, and the rest was history.”
At their wedding, their cocktail napkins had this Instagram conversation printed on it! It was such a fun personal touch to highlight a sweet part of their love story.
The Proposal
These two have such a cute proposal story. Caitlin told me, “Evan is a horrible secret-keeper.. So I knew the engagement was coming. I think he was just so excited he couldn’t contain himself (He even paid for me to get my nails done!). He took me to Mystic, CT – our first weekend trip away together was actually to Mystic, so it’s a special place for us. We spent the weekend enjoying the scenery and great food. There is a small winery outside Mystic that was built from an old WW2 airplane hangar – he walked me out past the vines to the water and got down on one knee- even though I knew it was coming, I cried like a baby.”
