Rock Island Lake Club Wedding | Julia & Adam

Their Wedding Day: Rock Island Lake Club Wedding

Julia & Adam’s Rock Island Lake Club wedding was a dreamy fall day! From the soft overcast light, and the vibrant foliage colors, to all the beautiful details and meaningful traditions…everything was perfect. Julia & Adam waited a long time for this day to happen, due to a long engagement from the start on top of covid postponements! In fact, they set a record as my longest standing clients! 🙂 We even did two engagement sessions since we had so much time, and I honestly wish I got to do two engagement sessions with everyone! (Check out their sessions here and here!) Because Julia and Adam, and all their friends and family (me included!) waited so long for their wedding day, it was extra sweet to finally get to celebrate!

I loved that they incorporated some special Polish traditions into their day! Including a sentimental Polish blessing from their parents before the ceremony, as well as the “bread, salt, vodka” tradition at their reception. And their dance floor was one of the most energetic dance floors I’ve seen in a long time. This day was all around so much fun and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite photos! But first, their love story.

Their Love Story

When I asked Julia & Adam to share with me one thing they love about each other, Adam said, “Julia has the purest heart that I have ever met. She radiates goodness because of it :)” And Julia said, “He is so incredibly kind and patient with everyone he meets and speaks too. The most random people always somehow open up to him like a book and its amazing.”

Julia & Adam first met their freshman year at Rutgers in a calculus class! Julia said, “We knew we would be a match made in heaven after spending our first class bonding over the TV shows Baggage and Family Feud.”

Five years later Adam proposed to Julia! As Julia tells it, “We wanted to take a trip to the most beautiful place in the US for our 5 year anniversary….but we ended up spending our actual 5 year anniversary sleeping in the SFO airport after a snow storm made our original flight get canceled. I panic booked us on a flight that was two hours after I got the cancellation notice, but yet we somehow made it to Vegas after crazy delays.”

“From there, we spent the next three days doing the most beautiful hikes in Zion. He proposed at the top of Observation Point, which was a 4 mile hike up. (He also knows me well enough to let me eat a sandwich before he proposed). It was so magical, even though Adam made the proposal very obvious since he was so excited and kept saying “You’re gonna LOVE this hike” :p Adam claims he knew that I knew he would propose because I’m absolutely terrified of heights and there was no way I would do it otherwise…he was right :)”
