The Session: Springtime Motherhood Backyard Session
I was so excited to put together this styled springtime motherhood backyard session! I thought it would be an extra special way to capture some of the sweetness and joy of family life with little ones. Having a simple, yet elevated backdrop featuring flowy white fabric, an antique piano stool, and a basket of fresh cut flowers set the scene for these photos!
Family Sessions in New Jersey
When it comes to photographing family sessions, I find it so important to focus on the connections, the little moments in between, the relationships, far more than a perfectly posed photo. Twenty years from now when you look back on your family photos, I’d venture to bet the ones that mean the most to you won’t be the staged and “perfect” shots. I think the ones that highlight how the season felt and how the relationships were will be the ones most cherished. Of course, I always get some of those smiling at the camera shots, too, but I love to prioritize the connection.
This sweet family (our dear friends from Folded Crane Films) was so much fun to photograph! Their two little boys were filled with joy, laughter, and some classic boyhood-style rambunctious energy too! We used our stool backdrop set, a picnic blanket for lounging, and some exploring through the garden paths too! These settings paired with a film-inspired aesthetic, are the perfect way to capture the nostalgia of these sweet interactions.
