Megan & Eric’s Summer Hoboken engagement session was so much fun! We explored some of their favorite spots, including Columbus Park, some aesthetic brownstones, the waterfront, and a very special last stop at Elysian Cafe. (If you keep reading a bit more of their story you’ll see where Elysian comes into play.) These two are so much fun, and so sweet together. Their natural affection and joy makes them really easy to photograph. I have many favorites from their engagement session! But first I want to share a bit of their love story!
I asked Megan and Eric to share with me one thing they love about each other. Megan said, “I love how silly and supportive he is, and Eric gives the best hugs and cuddles on earth.” Eric said, “I love how kind and caring and thoughtful she is. She’s just the sweetest person to be around and will always be by my side.”
These two have a sweet love story. They shared the story of their first date with me! “Our first date was at a bar in Hoboken called Dear Maud. We stayed and talked for SO long (like 3 hours) that the waiter was definitely mad we were hogging the table for so long. It just felt like we knew each other forever after only minutes. At the end of the night, we went outside and I tripped over a crack in the sidewalk – Eric grabbed me and saved me from falling (and more importantly, didn’t bust out laughing when I told him “oh don’t worry, that’s just my daily trip!”).
I feel like that story is the start of a really good rom com! 🙂
I always love hearing the his and hers side of the story when it comes to proposals. Megan shared from her perspective, “It was a Friday night in April – we usually take the bus home from work together on Fridays and sometimes go out to dinner. We had dinner reservations, but got back to Hoboken early so Eric suggested we take a walk along the water to kill time. Funnily enough, I was giving him a hard time about it because I had my work backpack with me and didn’t want to have to lug it around!”
“Anywho, we went to the water and he got down on one knee and proposed (it was such a blur that I can’t even tell you what he said!!). I was so surprised, and of course said yes. And then we tried to go to dinner, but were so excited and running on adrenaline that we could barely eat! It was perfect all around.”
Now the back story from Eric’s perspective! He told me, “I had just recently asked Megan’s father for permission and a few days later he asked what the plan was. Originally I thought I would propose down the shore Memorial Day weekend. A couple days after getting the ring in my possession, I knew May would be too far away.”
“We had dinner plans on Friday night in Hoboken which looked to have perfect weather. I called in a favor with a buddy to get us an outside reservation at Elysian. After we get off the bus earlier than I thought I figured better do now than later. A quick convincing down to the water I was able to get us a secluded selection on the pier where I went down on one knee. I honestly couldn’t tell you what I said but I do know it was the happiest moment of my life (thus far).”
Megan & Eric, thank you so much for having me as a part of this special season! You two are a joy, and I had the best time venturing around your favorite spots in Hoboken! I can’t wait to spend your wedding day celebrating you two and your love at Hackensack Golf Club! Until then, enjoy soaking up every minute of this chapter of being fiances! Sending all my love! xoxo
