Allison and Brian are such a fun couple, and I had a blast adventuring all around LBI with them for their engagement session! Brian’s family has a house on the island that his grandpa built himself; I’m so glad they chose to stop there so we could get some shots of that beauty! I promise I’ll tell you more about this adorable proposal story in just a second, but Brian proposed to Allison with his grandmother’s ring, which made my heart so happy. I just love all of the family history and legacies in this love story! We also stopped at a coffee shop and, of course, the beach, for sunset photos, but one of my favorite parts of the evening was grabbing dinner with them afterward to celebrate their engagement once more.
Allison’s best friend and Brian’s best friend are married, but Allison & Brian hadn’t met until last March when they both went to move their friends into their new home. Allison knew from the moment she met Brian that there was something there. She says, “I am definitely a ‘go getter’ so at the end of the night… I found him on FB and pressed send friend request!” They met up again a few months later at their friends’ BBQ where Allison learned that Brian was really impressed at how quickly she had added him on Facebook. When he saw the request, the song Keep Me in Mind by Zac Brown Band (their favorite band) was playing on the radio and Brian knew that was a sign! They talked every single day from that point on and finally started dating.
One year later, on the same day as the BBQ the year before, they were on their way to a concert to celebrate Allison’s birthday. Brian planned for them to stay at the same hotel and eat at the same restaurant that they had the previous year. He told her he needed to stop by his work, his family’s business, to lock up a gate, but that he wanted to show her around since it will one day be his (well, theirs, but she didn’t know that at the time!). Allison says, “He was persistent on showing me the roof which I was completely fine with because I am pretty much down for any adventure. After having a slight panic attack climbing up a ladder that was straight out of Legends of the Hidden Temple, I got myself onto the roof to experience the gorgeous view overlooking Philly. As I was looking around, I was focused on the houses near us and then suddenly I hear him say Hey! and I turn around and he was down on one knee. He chose to propose there as the business plays such a large role in his life and one day it will be ours. I felt like I was floating in the clouds, felt so surreal! And I am fortunate enough to wear his grandmother’s engagement ring that was passed down to him. Once we got to the hotel, he had a dozen roses, champagne and chocolate strawberries waiting for our night ahead.”
Aren’t these two just the sweetest?! I’m SO excited to share this gorgeous, LBI engagement session on the blog today, and I can’t wait to photograph their big day!
