Dana & Reid’s Ashford Estate Summer wedding was a truly special day! These two are so joyous (I’m talking Reid greeting us with his excited dance moves when we arrived :)), that you can’t help but feel the joy, too when you’re with them. Their classic style filled every part of the day. From Dana’s pearl jewelry accents, and the all white flowers and greenery, to the string quartet at the ceremony, and the most perfect invitation suite complete with vintage stamps…it was perfect.
When Dana first reached out to me, here’s how she described their wedding day vision. “We’re going for a timeless, estate style that feels like a fresh, early summer day with white, navy and green colors. We are trying to throw a good party surrounded by our closest friends and family with lots of dancing. We’re so excited about the Ashford because it keeps everything at the same location with each event rolling into the next.” I’d say they nailed this vision completely! I’m so excited to share my favorite photos from their day, but first, their love story!
When I asked Dana & Reid to share with me one thing they love about each other, this is what they said. Dana told me “I love how much Reid laughs at my jokes which are never really funny. Reid loves how much I make him laugh (BARF we know).” These two are so fun and funny, and filled with joy & playfulness. I’ll never get over how cute they are together!
Dana & Reid first met at work, and Dana gave me the inside scoop. She said, “After a year of dancing around each other, he finally asked me out on a date. Ever since then we’ve been inseparable. We’d stay at each other’s places and head into work together only for Reid to take a few laps around the block so nobody got any ideas. Over time we’d let our close work friends in on the secret, but it wasn’t till our engagement that we made things HR official haha. A lot of people had their suspicions but some were still shocked.”
Ok, this proposal story is so sweet! Dana tells it best, “When I lived on the Upper East Side, in the mornings we would always walk to the same hole in the wall diner, Viand, for coffee (the New York Times once said it “a place where Eurotrash UES ladies could grab a good burger”). Then we would head over to Central park and sit by the Bethesda Fountain. It was our weekend ritual and the spot where Reid asked me to officially be his girlfriend (after 6 months of skirting around the subject haha). Eventually we would always jokingly drop hints to each other that if he were to ever pop the question, that would be the place.”
“So one Sunday morning in September of this year, we woke up and he said “Do you want to go for a walk in Central Park today?”. I had a feeling this was coming and couldn’t contain my excitement. I screamed “WAIT, IS IT HAPPENING TODAY?! SHOULD I PUT ON A CUTE DRESS??” and from that point on we were laughing and smiling all the way there, both knowing what was coming. We rode the F train up to my old stop, got ice coffees at Viand, and sure enough went straight to the fountain. Reid was shaking so much and we both forgot all the tourists that would be there to add to the pressure.”
“Eventually, after enough of a break in the crowds came and he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together! Tons of people started clapping embarrassingly enough, but one adorable Israeli couple came and chased us down and shared a picture they took of the moment it happened. It was such an incredible memory. One that we’ll never forget. We continued our celebrations by having brunch at Tavern on the Green with both of our families. I still to this day don’t know how Reid was able to get my mother to keep the secret.”
Dana & Reid, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I cannot even express how over the moon thrilled I am for you both. Your wedding day was a true joy and I couldn’t be more honored that we got to be a part of it! We love you guys so much, and are so grateful for your friendship. Allowing us to capture all the beautiful memories of your day was so incredibly special to us. Cheers to the start of this next chapter and all the adventures ahead!! xoxo
