Boho Engagement Session, Holmdel Park, NJ | Nicolette & Mike

Their Session: Holmdel Park, NJ

When I first met Nicolette, she had modeled for a styled shoot I had been part of with Elan Hair Studio. When she contacted me with the news she was engaged I was over the moon excited for her! I was totally honored that she wanted me to photograph her and Mike’s big day! Their engagement session was an incredible day, and just makes me that much more excited for their wedding day!

Nicolette and Mike made this day a BLAST! They knocked it out of the park with their incredibly perfect outfits, and the cutest props! They brought the prettiest white bike, a magical flower bouquet, and gorgeous ring box. They even brought their sweet pup along for a few photos too. (It’s always an amazing day when furbabies are involved.) It doesn’t get any more perfect than that! Everything about Nicolette & Mike just made this entire day memorable and fun. Their love story is just as awesome as they are. Just wait til you hear about their proposal!

Their Love Story

Nicolette and Mike met in college in West Chester, PA. However, the initial meeting wasn’t instant love. As Nicolette put it, “I first met him at a party 2 years prior; he had a mullet, I wasn’t interested”. As fate would have it, when they re-connected a little later things were very different. Becoming neighbors, (after the whole mullet thing) ended up being the catalyst for their relationship! Nicolette told me, “We re-met after our 2 houses started to hang out with each other, I lived with 7 other girls, and he had 4 guy roommates. Our first date was at the Philadelphia Zoo.”

Their proposal story is just too sweet! Nicolette tells it like this. “So, in college when he asked me to be his girlfriend, he got me this HUGE bear that had a ribbon on its neck saying will you go out with me. We recently moved to Manasquan and kept lugging the bear from house to house (moved twice). So when we moved to our current house we had just finished unpacking. Mike was forcing me to go out to dinner and I really did not want to, we moved all day and I was tired, my sisters came over to see it all. As I was getting ready to go out to dinner he called me to the family room and proposed, with the big bear, but the ribbon was a little different this time. I have 3 sisters I’m very close with so they were all there to see and take pictures. It was fun, exciting, overwhelming. Best part was Mike forgot all of his clothes in the old house so he was wearing basketball shorts and t-shirt. We had to go break in to our other house that night (lost the key) and get him dressy clothes, when we got to dinner a lot of our friends and family were there, it was a little crazy, a lot of things happened in a short amount of time, but I feel like that is our life in a nutshell”.

I asked them to share with me a little bit about what their typical date night is like. Nicolette said, “Typical date night is usually casual, dinner and a few beers or drinks. On Thursdays we like to try a new place every week. Since we just moved to a new area its nice to try new places and see what we like before the summer crowds roll in. We enjoy anything by the water or anything that is pup friendly.”

Their story rings so true to who they are as people. Fun, sweet, and just a touch of excitement to keep things interesting- these two have it all! I love when proposal stories reflect the life of a relationship, and theirs couldn’t have been more perfect!
