Their Minimony Day
After postponing their original April wedding to September, and then once again postponing their larger celebrations to next year, when they can host them safely, Krista & Mathew decided to still make their marriage official on September 6, 2020! They put together the most perfect and absolutely beautiful backyard minimony, in Mathew’s STUNNING childhood backyard in New Paltz, NY! This backyard is a dream!! Between the gorgeous, colorful flowers, wooded areas, and the most perfect vast open field with mountains in the background….I couldn’t imagine a more scenic spot to tie the knot! You could say we had some fun with portraits! 😉
Krista & Mathew exchanged their vows in front of the lush, blooming garden. They thought of everything to make this day perfect, including custom masks & hand sanitizer! And to celebrate after, they had a gorgeous tent set up for their outdoor dinner! Surrounded by their immediate families, Krista & Mathew became husband and wife, and hosted the most perfect intimate celebration! I couldn’t be happier for these two! I loved being a part of their day and can’t wait to share ALL the photos! But first…let me tell you about their love story!
Their Love Story
When I asked Krista & Mathew to share with me one thing they love about each other, Krista said, “Mathew is always there for me and will do anything for me.” And Mathew said, “Krista always does the right thing and supports me/pushes me.”
How They Met
Krista and Mathew first met on their college swim team. Krista told me, “Mathew is from New Paltz, New York and I am from Staten Island. We met and were friends for a year before we starting dating. We’ve been together ever since! We live together on Staten Island and love every minute of it.”
How He Asked
Want to hear how Mathew asked Krista to be his wife? This is such a good story! Krista tells it best, “4 years ago, my brother got married on New Year’s Eve. This started our tradition of traveling for spending NYE with family. We got a group of 12-15 cousins/family friends together and each NYE we travel to a new place to spend the new year. We did Toronto, Charleston, and last year, Nashville. With my 3 brothers, 2 sister in-laws, and 7 cousins all around me on a Nashville rooftop bar, Mathew got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was SHOCKED and so grateful that my family was there with us. We then got to go into our NYE celebrations as an engaged couple and it was the best start to the new year!” This story gave me chills! I may be biased having gotten engaged on NYE myself, but I just think it’s such a special way to kick off a new year together!!
To the Newlyweds
Krista & Mathew, you two are so sweet, and I’m so thankful I got to be a part of your beautiful marriage day! It meant the world to capture this special day, and it makes me even more excited to capture part two for you guys next year! I’m so happy to be along for the journey with you guys, and sharing in all that this season throws our way! Congratulations newlyweds!!!!
