Spring Lake Golf Club Wedding | Tara & John

Their Wedding Day: Spring Lake Golf Club, NJ

Tara & John’s Spring Lake Golf Club wedding was such a beautiful and incredibly special day. Their simple and elegant style was PERFECTLY executed in every part of the day. They had a lovely ceremony at St. Catharine’s church in Spring Lake, followed by lots of relaxed portrait time, and photos in Divine Park. Then they danced the evening away with an incredible band at Spring Lake Golf Club! I loved all the beautiful decor, and unique signage that created such a refined aesthetic and fit perfectly with their emerald green and white color scheme! I also loved some of the the sweet details they included, like Tara wrapping her grandmother’s necklace around her bouquet. I’m so excited to share all these photos from this amazing day! But first, let me share a little bit of Tara & John’s love story!

Their Love Story

When I asked Tara & John to share with me one thing they love about each other, Tara said, “I love that he always has time to listen to me. All of my crazy work stories he hears every one of them out. He is unbelievably thoughtful. When we first started dating he would bring me breakfast when I had a long day of work. It’s just those littles things that makes him so amazing.” And John said, “I love Tara’s smile.”

How They Met

I love the story of how Tara & John met!! Tara tells it best so I’ll let her words speak for themselves. She told me, “We met at a Memorial Day house party when I was meeting a friend for a quick hello. Thought he was super cute and offered to drive him to his next spot so he didn’t need to call a cab. I gave him and his friend a ride and he said bye and got out! Haha. Instead of going home I go to grab a drink at the next closest bar with a friend. He shows up! I go up and ask him why he didn’t ask me for my number, instead he asked me on a date the next day. We went for lunch mini golf and taco date and the rest is history :).”

The Proposal

If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for a thoughtful proposal story. John did such a good job planning a sweet proposal. You have to hear the story! Tara gave me all the details. She said, “He told me we were getting dinner with his cousin and his wife on thanksgiving eve. (Always a night we celebrate) I was excited cause we never double date with them. We had a set time and place at la dolce vita in Belmar. It was the coldest day EVER, something like 10 degrees.”

“We got to the restaurant which is in front on the boardwalk and he said “let’s look at the moon.” I said sure (thought it was odd since it was so cold, but okay) and we looked at the super moon that night on the boardwalk, which was beautiful. His heart was literally racing and I even questioned if he was okay or if he had just had coffee. He told me he loved me and wanted to travel and explore every part of the world with me, then proposed. A photographer then popped out from the beach in the dark and captured the entire moment! It was very thoughtful since he is not a picture guy. Champagne was poured and we celebrated all weekend long.”
