Upper Montclair Country Club Summer Wedding, Montclair, NJ | Emily & Ian

I cannot speak highly enough about Emily and Ian and their entire wedding day at Upper Montclair Country Club! I am so obsessed with these two and their kind, genuine nature and, of course, their pup, Sandy! (We are convinced that Sandy is my dog, Lily’s twin separated at birth! 😉 Just wait til you see some photos of Sandy with Ian getting ready, and you’ll see why!) Emily and Ian are down-to-earth, kind-hearted people who are SO much fun to photograph because of how sweet they are together, and how willing they are to do anything for great pictures – trekking through the tall grass in a wedding dress & suti?! Yep, they’re up for it. I’m so grateful for clients who become friends; it makes the entire wedding experience just that much more special.

Emily told me all about her and Ian’s story, how they met, and how he proposed! (Learning my couples’ stories is always one of my favorite things!) Emily & Ian were both in Ocean City, MD with friends about 5 years ago when Ian’s friend tried to pick up one of Emily’s friends. Although they didn’t work out, Ian and Emily got along from that moment on and have been together ever since! They committed to each other through two years of long distance from NYC to PA before Emily finally moved to NJ to be with Ian!

Ian proposed on Christmas Eve by the tree in their new home they had moved into. He asked if Emily wanted to open a present early and she eagerly obliged. She said, “I closed my eyes and put out my hands only to open them and see Ian down on one knee. It was the perfect setting on our first Christmas in our new home.” How beautiful and special is that!!

Their wedding day at Upper Montclair Country Club was heartfelt and romantic from their personal vows written to one another, to the ukulele player playing songs during their outdoor ceremony. Their ceremony arch was incredible and so beautifully decorated with florals and suspended colorful glass jars! Emily wore a PINK(!!!) Hayley Paige dress complete with a pink veil that was just so stunning and complimented her perfectly!

During portrait time, one of my favorite parts of every wedding day, we found the most amazing little area of tall grass that looked truly magical. We got to take golf carts around the gorgeous property at UMCC and found all the best spots! During our bonus sunset portrait time, we were able to sneak out just in time for the perfect golden glow and let these two take in their first day as a married couple together in an intimate, gorgeous setting.

Emily & Ian definitely know how to throw a party & please the crowd – good food and even better dessert!! Their super fun dessert station had cotton candy and ice cream sundaes, so as if I wasn’t sure of it already, they are truly my kind of people. AND I got to dance to my absolute favorite song, Shout, with them – special thanks to Emily for specifically requesting it for me! These two are seriously the best. I love how they made this day truly their own. It was a perfect way of celebrating their love story alongside their close friends and family.

Emily and Ian, I am wishing you two all the happiness and joy in the world. Congratulations on your next big adventure in Chicago – I know great things are ahead for both of you! Thank you for being such amazing friends, I am so grateful for you! Enjoy the married life! Love you Xoxo
