Audubon Plainsboro Preserve Engagement Session | Kayla & Shane

Their Session: Audubon Plainsboro Preserve

Kayla & Shane’s engagement session at the gorgeous nature-filled Audubon Plainsboro Preserve was a blast! These two were up for everything, exploring the woods, hiking the trails, and running through the tall grassy fields! 🙂 Shane even taught us some interesting facts about all the wildlife in the woods there, since he’s kind of an expert! Kayla & Shane are a fun-loving couple, and such a joy to take photos of! Can’t wait to share some highlights from their engagement session, but first, let’s dive into their love story!

Their Love Story

When I asked Kayla and Shane to share one thing they love about each other Kayla said, “I should probably be ashamed of this, but I love how much he does for me. I know I am a pain in the butt most of the time and not the easiest to deal with and he is incredibly patient with me.” Shane said, “I love how selfless Kayla is, she’s always taking care of others and putting them first.”

These two are so sweet together and such a perfect match. Let’s dive in to how it all began, they have such a good story!

How They Met

Kayla first met Shane’s mom through work! They became best friends, which is actually how she got introduced to Shane!! Kayla told me, “To be honest, neither of us can exactly remember the day we met. Shane’s mom is my best friend and I am very close with his sister as well. When I first moved here, I was dating someone from Long Island, so I had met Shane in passing here and there but when I became single we really ‘talked’ for the first time at his sister’s college graduation party. That night we literally laid under the stars on the farm and talked for hours :)”

Their official first date soon followed at Kayla’s favorite restaurant, Devon’s, in Hershey, PA! She told me, “Shane had never been because he’s a more casual guy, (I really enjoy a nice restaurant with good food). When we got to the table there was a bottle of Pinot Grigio on the table in a bucket of ice, he tried to order things on the menu that he had no idea what they were because he told me he was trying to impress me. Turns out, he liked everything so I think he mostly impressed himself lol but it was sweet :)”

The Proposal

Kayla tells the story of how Shane popped the question best! She told me, “I had told Shane about a year ago that I would like my family to be a part of my proposal.  I also decided to be very over the top and request that it be at the 50 yard line of MetLife stadium since I am a huge New York Giants fan. My dad takes me and some of my cousins to a game every year, so this past year on November 4th, we were headed to our annual game as usual.  My birthday is November 7th, so mid tailgate, my mom and a few of my other cousins showed up out of nowhere, saying they were there to celebrate my birthday. Shane was tapping on my hip, but I was ignoring him because I was staring at my cousins coming around the corner wondering why they were there.  Finally, I heard my other cousin yell my name, and turned around to Shane down on one knee.  Apparently he tried to put ‘Speechless’ on the speaker before kneeling but he got so nervous, and it wasn’t working that he said forget it.  So in the background of the proposal video, “She’s a Brick House” is playing!! Too funny!  Bottles of Moet and La Marca were popping all over!! It wasn’t on the 50 yard line, but it was at the stadium and everyone that I wanted to be there showed up 🙂  He couldn’t have made it more perfect.  However, if he could have made the Giants win the game, that would have been the icing on the cake!!” How cute is that proposal story!!? I think Shane really knocked it out of the park with this perfect proposal surrounded by family and at MetLife stadium!
