Their Wedding Day:
The Coach House at Ryland Inn

Carly & Nick’s wedding day at The Coach House at Ryland Inn, was nothing short of magical. This winter wedding was a DREAM! And I loved all the little special details they incorporated, like Carly’s grandmother’s ring & a photo tied to her bouquet. All those thoughtful elements come together to make a wedding day unique and so special. Back when Carly first reached out to me, she told me that she and Nick always knew they wanted a winter wedding. Carly said “[a winter wedding] felt cozy and romantic to us. The theme I’m going for is definitely warm and romantic…so hopefully everyone will feel warm and inviting.” Their wedding day perfectly hit all of those notes. Before we dive into all their gorgeous photos, let me tell you a little more about these two love birds and their story.

Their Love Story

Carly & Nick first met at work! They both started working for the company on the exact same day, in desks facing each other! They were actually assigned to work on a project together as the newbies which they both had no idea how to do. Carly said, “It took a couple months for us to figure out that we might have liked each other and then one summer weekend he invited me to come down to his beach house and then I was hooked! We’ve definitely had a whirlwind type romance from the get-go as we’ve only been together for a little over a year and a half, but he is my person.”

Carly told me, “That weekend [at Nick’s beach house] was the first time we kissed, then had to keep it a secret from all our co-workers. We are very close with our co-workers and all worked in the same room, so we’d routinely go for happy hours and we would make sure to walk alone together after to catch up and sneak a kiss. Then our first official date we went out to Tanner Smith’s in the city for a nice dinner and decided that it didn’t matter that we worked together. There was definitely a strong connection and we knew we wanted to start dating.”

Want to hear how Nick popped the question!? As Carly tells it, “The proposal was so very special and Nick spent so much time and effort planning it. He had told me we were getting dinner with friends in the city and that we would need to get on the 7:40pm ferry. As a background, we ride the ferry to work every day together and have had a lot of sentimental moments riding it. It’s almost like a home away from home in a weird way, very comforting and peaceful. So that night we were waiting in line for the ferry and it pulls up and he says “let’s sit in the back” which I didn’t think was too weird as he usually likes to sit outside. The ferry boats on the weekend are much smaller so everyone usually sits inside and there’s about 2 rows of seats outside, and when we walked out I saw one other gentleman standing out there. We went to sit down and all the seats were soaked since it had rained about 2 hours prior. So I mentioned that my dress was going to get soaked if I sat down and he was like “oh it’s ok just put your sweater down” which I thought was weird because usually he’d be like “oh right then let’s go inside.” Then I glance back over at the gentleman who I saw when I first walked out and noticed that he had a big camera with him and sure enough 3 seconds later Nick was turning me around and down on one knee. The sun was setting, the freedom tower was in the background and it was so special. I wish I remembered everything he was saying!! We then went to the dinner he told me was going to be with friends, which actually was only for the two of us, and it was a beautiful Korean restaurant overlooking the whole city.” Honestly, does it get any more romantic than that?! I love that story.

When I asked these two to share one thing they love about each other, Carly said, “Nick’s loyal, and so patient. His sense of humor always has me laughing! And he thinks my crazy is funny.” Nick said, “Carly’s weirdness, and sense of humor. And that she has a big heart.”
