Willowwood Arboretum Engagement Session | Danielle & Matt

Their Session: Willowwood Arboretum

Where do I even begin!? I LOVED this engagement session with Danielle & Matt at Willowwood Arboretum! I had WAY too much fun with these two exploring all the beautiful grounds, and laughing through our shoot. These two have the best sense of humor, and had me cracking up the entire time. I’m obsessed. 🙂 We had the most perfect winter day for their shoot, being not too cold, AND we got a light dusting of snow – just enough to add to the atmosphere! I can’t wait to share all these photos with you, but first, let me tell you a little more about Danielle & Matt!

Their Love Story

Danielle & Matt first met during her sophomore year of high school. Her best friend was dating Matt’s brother at the time, and Matt was new to their school so didn’t have anyone to sit with at lunch yet. Naturally Danielle’s friend invited him to sit with them. Danielle said, “I developed a crush on him immediately and as we got closer to Winter Break he and I started talking more and more. I was invited to their NYE party, and when the ball dropped we had our first kiss. He asked me out when we got back to school and I actually remember that distinct butterfly feeling when someone told me that he was going to ask me out! I tried to avoid him right after lunch when I heard he was going to ask me out to be honest because I was TERRIFIED. I had never had a *real* boyfriend before and all the guys I ever even developed feelings for were just jerks… But we’ve been together ever since!” Seriously, how sweet are these two? I’m obsessed with them and their story!!

The story of how Matt proposed to Danielle is such a a good one. Danielle told me all the details, “Oh gosh, our story is so funny to me to be honest! It’s so non-romantic but still utterly romantic and totally him! We were on a trip to England and France earlier this year and we took a day to go back into London from Paris even though we just spent over a week and a half in England venturing around London and towns outside of the main city. We are huge Harry Potter fans and it’s one of the first things that piqued our interest in one another – this shared love. We couldn’t get tickets to the studio tour while in London the first week because they were sold out, so we booked tickets through a tour company for while we were in Paris. Well… the day was HORRIBLE. We were rushed through everything because the tour company couldn’t find our reservation and tried to tell us we were on the next bus (there was no next bus) so we spent an hour on the sidewalk next to the bus stop trying to figure out what was going on. By the time we got to Leavesden Studios we were rushed and had barely any time to enjoy the studio tour… We were both SO bummed. So when it was time to go, we got back into London and grabbed a quick bite to eat before getting back on the train. Neither of us wanted to leave London but we had to get back on the train to Paris from St. Pancras (which is right across from King’s Cross which is big to Harry Potter). I started walking back to the train station and heard a mug fall and I thought he just broke one of the only things we got that day so I turned around to be like “what the heck happened?!” and he was down on one knee and his words were “f— it, I’ll do it right here!” and looked at me to ask me if I’d marry him. It was totally perfect and unpredictable in the best way!” I love how Matt just made this day of misadventure a beautiful memorable one too! 🙂
