Their Wedding Day: Teak, Red Bank, NJ

Suzanne & Aurelio’s wedding day at Teak in Red Bank was such a special day! Their intimate wedding celebration was the perfect way to honor officially becoming husband and wife! They chose Teak for their venue because Aurelio’s childhood best friends actually own Teak, Greek Eats and The Bistro. As Suzanne put it, “It only seemed natural to have it at one of their places, and I love Teak Rooftop…We wanted more of a cool vibe – we are having the ceremony downstairs and a loaded cocktail reception upstairs.  We just want a fun environment with great food and delicious wine!” Their wedding day was exactly that! It was such a fun day surrounded by friends, family, and incredible food! : )

I was so excited to work with the insanely talented Cassandra Shah Flowers & Events! She turned the Teak Rooftop into the most dreamy reception space complete with a flower wall (which was a PERFECT backdrop for photos), and the most mesmerizing suspended centerpieces over top of each table. Everything was absolutely stunning and SO much fun to photograph! ; )

Family is super important to Suzanne & Aurelio and I love the ways they incorporated that throughout the day. Suzanne’s daughter, Lily, made the most ADORABLE flower girl! And it was so sweet to see Suzanne’s dad, and her son, Dylan, walk her down the aisle together at the ceremony. I also loved that part way through Suzanne & Aurelio’s first dance, they did a first dance as a family with Lily & Dylan, too! Those are some of my favorite photos from the day!

Let me tell you a little more about Suzanne & Aurelio’s love story before we dive into all the pretty pictures! : )

Their Love Story

Suzanne & Aurelio met around 4.5 years ago at a local bar & restaurant. They said hello to each other from time to time when they would run into each other. Suzanne told me, “A year later I was going through my divorce, and he was getting out of a relationship. We started to run into each other more and more, and found that our personalities and love of food, wine and travel was identical. We haven’t spent a day without each other ever since.  He adores my kids, which makes me love him even more.  He has never been married or had children…my unicorn!  I have a boy who will be 12 in July named Dylan, and a girl about to be 8 named Lily.  They will be a huge part of our day.”

Want to hear how Aurelio asked Suzanne to marry him? As Suzanne tells it, “We set our date at Teak a few months before the actual engagement, but that didn’t take away from the moment.  We live together, so we both knew we wanted to make it official.  We had a trip planned to Aruba during teachers convention in November, but I really had no idea that he was going to propose there!  I watched him pack, and didn’t notice a thing!  On our first day there, the hotel upgraded us to the Presidential Suite, and it was insane.  I just thought it was because Aurelio has points with the Ritz Carlton, not thinking that he had spoken to the hotel to tell them about his plan.  After drinks and a half day at the beach, we went up to relax and unwind.  He poured me a glass of my favorite Sauvignon Blanc and I went out to a lounge area outside with my kids.  He came out and knelt down with the ring and asked me to marry him in front of the kids.  I have never been so happy!  Lily still talks about it!” How sweet is that? I love that the kids got to be a part of such a big moment! It’ll be a memory all of them cherish forever!

When I asked Suzanne & Aurelio to share one thing they love about each other, Aurelio said, “How Suzanne takes care of all of us!” And Suzanne said, “How much Aurelio loves me, and how much he supports me and the kids.” : )
