Rose Garden at Brookdale Park Engagement | Meg & Tom

Their Session: Rose Garden at Brookdale Park, NJ

Brookdale Park is such a gem of a location! This park has so many areas to explore, and it makes the perfect backdrop for photos! The Rose Garden at Brookdale Park is one of my favorites, and that’s where we kicked off Meg & Tom’s engagement session!

These two are so sweet and kind, and such a joy to spend time with! I loved getting to spend an evening hanging out third wheeling with Meg & Tom. They were totally down for any and everything (the best!) so we got SO many amazing portraits of them! I’m OBSESSED! : )

I am bursting with excitement to share all the photos from this session, but first I just gotta tell you all about Meg & Tom – how they met, how he asked, all the details! I loved hearing about their story and I know you will too!

Their Love Story

These two have THE CUTEST love story. 🙂 Meg & Tom first met way back in the 7th grade. As Meg tells it, “We both went to different catholic elementary schools in the area and our schools played each other in sports and had middle school dances together. So, at a middle school dance, I spotted Tom and instantly fell in love! I will say one of the first dates that I remember us having – we were so young was going out for pizza together, and also going to one of the town carnivals together when we were in 8th grade. I literally had the biggest crush on Tom when I met him in 7th grade, and from the first time we met, we were able to laugh and joke with each other so easily. We always had our eyes on each other at the middle school dances, and always shared a slow dance lol the two of us always talked on AOL instant messenger (throwback! lol) and hung out every once and a while until high school. I still remember coming home from school every day and waiting for his screen-name to pop up (Tomb212 haha). We stayed friends and always talked to each other, but we started officially dating Junior year of high school, when Tom asked me to go to Prom with him after taking me out for Valentine’s Day in 2010… and we’ve been together ever since! I went to public high school, but he went to a private all boys school and we both took each other to our proms. We were somewhat long distance in college, I was in Rhode Island and he was in Boston so we were about an hour drive apart but we stayed together throughout college until we both moved back to North Jersey after graduation.”

If you thought that was sweet, just wait til you hear how Tom proposed! I love proposal stories, and hearing all the details about how my couples got engaged! Meg and Tom’s story is such a good one AND Wawa is involved so you know I’m extra pumped about it! Meg told me, “Tom proposed to me on June 30th! He surprised me with a weekend down the shore in Lavallette.. We actually stayed at the same motel that we stayed at after senior prom 7 years earlier. We spent the day hitting up all of my favorite spots down the shore (Playa bowls, Wawa coffee, and went to the Crabs Claw restaurant in Lavallette for dinner). He proposed on the beach at sunset, with a rose petal heart in the sand. After I said yes, we celebrated with champagne and going to our favorite ice cream place (Kohr’s orange and cream with rainbow sprinkles!!). When we drove home the day after he proposed, he surprised me again with an engagement celebration dinner with both of our families!” How thoughtful is Tom!? Oh my goodness I can’t even handle it.

When I asked Meg & Tom one thing that they love about each other, Meg said, “I love how Tom is there to laugh with me through all the good times and the bad. Even on my worst days, he is able to find a way to get me to laugh about any situation, no matter how upset, angry or sad I was before.” And Tom said, “I love how organized she is, and how she thinks things through to get things done with the best possible solution.”
