You guys, it is so unbelievably special when I get to photograph the love stories of friends! I was so honored when Angie & Dennis asked me to take their engagement photos at Mohonk Mountain House this fall!! And of course we had to sneak in a few photos with their sweet furbaby Lola too! 😉 It is seriously THE BEST when couples include their pups in their session! I love it!
Dennis is one of my boyfriend Ryan’s BFFs since they were in middle school (Ryan’s going to be one of the Best Men at the wedding). Angie and Dennis started dating around the same time that Ryan and I started dating so I’ve had the privilege of knowing these two for more than eight years. Okay, let me tell you a little more about Angie & Dennis!
Angie and Dennis met at a party in September 2010 at her cousin’s off campus apartment. They had fun hanging out and getting to know each other at the party. Angie said, “We talked all night until the sun came up exchanged phone numbers after the party. We started going on dates and about a month later he asked me to be his girlfriend. Dennis would drive a few hrs every weekend to come see me in my college dorm. Fast forward 8 years later we have been living together for 3 yrs and are the proud parents of our 90 lbs pup Lola.”
Now you have GOT to hear their proposal story! I love it so much not only because it’s so sweet, and thoughtful, BUT also I think it’s so fun that it also has to do with Mohonk and Dennis using Ryan & I as a diversion to get Angie up to Mohonk and surprise her! It’s so good. Here’s what Angie told me, “Going to school in New Paltz made me fall in love with fall, there is something magical about the leaves turning colors and I can remember looking out my dorm window and seeing the mountain with all the trees turning. I knew that when I got engaged I would take pictures at Mohonk Mountain House. About a week before Dennis told me we were going to New Paltz to hike and meet with you and Ryan. On December 2 we went to New Paltz to hike by Mohonk Mountain House. When we got there, Dennis told me we were hiking to Sky Top Tower which was something I always wanted to do. During our hike we took in all the views, made conversation, and laughed. Finally we get to Sky Top Tower and we waited until everyone was out of the tower to go inside and climb the tower. Once we got the the top, we took in the view and I started looking to see if I could see the college campus from the tower. All of a sudden, he tells me to turn around and he is down on one knee with a box in his hand. I could not believe what was happening since it was so unexpected and of course I started to cry as soon as I realized what was going on. I, of course, said yes! The day was so perfect I would not change a thing.” For real….HOW SWEET IS THAT!? Their proposal story gives me chills! AND that whole back story made our day taking photos at Mohonk for their engagement session even more special. 🙂
Although the day we took their engagement photos ended up being a foggy fall day, it was beautiful, and these two crushed it! Angie & Dennis are such troopers hiking all the way up the mountain and totally up for doing anything to get great photos! 🙂 We had a blast hanging out and exploring and hiking! Angie & Dennis have such contagious happiness – it was one of those sessions that had me smiling til my cheeks hurt behind the camera. They are so sweet together! You can’t help but share in the joy, seeing the way they make each other laugh, and are just so clearly best friends.

I am so excited to be a part of your wedding day (as a guest!!!!) next fall at Waterloo Village! I can’t wait to celebrate with you guys on the dance floor all night! 😉 Congrats you two!!!
