Their Session: New York Public Library & Top of the Rock, New York City, NY

The early bird catches a lot more then just worms! They catch some of the most beautiful and surreal photo sessions in the rarely quiet New York City! Starting my morning with Nicole and Mike at the New York Public Library, and then adventuring to Top of the Rock was an amazing way to start the day! There’s something surreal about a rare glimpse of the bustling city reaching a quiet calm before the start of another busy day. It brought a unique and peaceful twist to this amazing session! The empty steps of the NY Public Library made for an AWESOME experience, both peaceful and beautiful!

Continuing on with some photos throughout the NYC streets as we made our way to Top of the Rock added some fun adventure. Nicole and Mike brought a bottle of champagne, a pretty ring box and an absolutely gorgeous bouquet. These two are an amazing, fun and adventurous couple and I loved to start my day off exploring the city with them! Their proposal story is as much fun as they are! You’ve gotta take a second and get to hear how these two became the couple they are!

Their Love Story

Nicole and Mike met in 2013, at the University of Delaware where Nicole attended school. Her roommate’s boyfriend (now husband!!) came to visit and brought Mike along for the trip. Nicole told me, “we flirted but didn’t really hit it off. Then on St. Patties day we were both at happy hour with friends in NYC, and ran into each other at a random bar”. She said that had been three years ago, and they’ve been together ever since!

Their proposal story is just awesome! Nicole tells it like this, “Best day of my life!! My brother recently got married early this May so I was convinced Mike would wait until after his wedding, but I was wrong! On March 9, we were supposed to meet his family at Bodegra Negra in the Dream Hotel for dinner, with drinks at the bar before (which we do about once a month). Once we pulled up to the Dream Hotel, Mike said his brother had texted him that the bar was packed and they went downstairs for a drink. We got downstairs, checked our coats and then I walked into the room and both of our families were there. Mike proposed in front of everyone, it was amazing! Afterwards our friends met us there and we had a few tables upstairs at PHD for the rest of the night”. I love this story because it has it all; friends, family, great memories and an awesome, love-filled surprise! Mike did a perfect job of making this an unforgettable night!

I asked them to tell me about what their typical date nights are like. Nicole told me, “Mike and I like to try new fancy/trendy restaurants. A typical date night would start at 8:30 and we’ll grab a drink at a restaurant bar and have dinner, then Uber home if it’s a weeknight or meet up with friends if it’s a weekend”. Every part of their relationship is surrounded by the love they have for each other and all of the beautiful family and friends that are in their lives!
