Park Chateau, NJ Winter Wedding | Kayla & Shane

Their Wedding Day: Park Chateau Estate & Gardens

Kayla and Shane’s Park Chateau winter wedding day was SO much fun! These two have an amazing supportive crew of family and friends, who made this day extra special for them! It was such a joy to see all the excitement and celebration in honor of Kayla & Shane’s marriage! Park Chateau is one of my all time favorite venues, and it makes me so happy any time I have the chance shoot at this magical place!

The meaningful details Kayla & Shane put together made everything extra special. One of my favorite parts was Shane’s cufflinks that coordinated with his parents’ accessories. And I loved that Kayla wore her late grandmother’s wedding rings, along with a photo of her grandmother on her bouquet. These sentimental touches were so thoughtful! I can’t wait to share all these photos from this day, but first let me tell you some more about Kayla & Shane and their love story!

Their Love Story

When I asked Kayla and Shane to share one thing they love about each other and Kayla told me, “I should probably be ashamed of this, but I love how much he does for me. I know I am a pain in the butt most of the time and not the easiest to deal with and he is incredibly patient with me.” Shane said, “I love how selfless Kayla is, she’s always taking care of others and putting them first.”

How sweet are these two? They make such a perfect match. But my favorite part of their story goes back to the beginning and how they met. It’s one of those totally meant to be kind of stories…

How They Met

Kayla first met Shane’s mom at work! They became best friends, and Shane’s mom introduced Kayla to Shane!! Kayla told me, “To be honest, neither of us can exactly remember the day we met. Shane’s mom is my best friend and I am very close with his sister as well. When I first moved here, I was dating someone from Long Island, so I had met Shane in passing here and there but when I became single we really ‘talked’ for the first time at his sister’s college graduation party. That night we literally laid under the stars on the farm and talked for hours :)”

Their official first date soon followed at Kayla’s favorite restaurant, Devon’s, in Hershey, PA! Kayla said, “Shane had never been because he’s a more casual guy, (I really enjoy a nice restaurant with good food). When we got to the table there was a bottle of Pinot Grigio on the table in a bucket of ice, he tried to order things on the menu that he had no idea what they were because he told me he was trying to impress me. Turns out, he liked everything so I think he mostly impressed himself lol but it was sweet :)”

The Proposal

Let me tell you how Shane popped the question! When their officiant told the story during their ceremony everyone shared in some laughter and emotion because this story is so good…Kayla tells it best.

“I had told Shane about a year ago that I would like my family to be a part of my proposal.  I also decided to be very over the top and request that it be at the 50 yard line of MetLife stadium since I am a huge New York Giants fan. My dad takes me and some of my cousins to a game every year, so this past year on November 4th, we were headed to our annual game as usual.  My birthday is November 7th, so mid tailgate, my mom and a few of my other cousins showed up out of nowhere, saying they were there to celebrate my birthday.”

“Shane was tapping on my hip, but I was ignoring him because I was staring at my cousins coming around the corner wondering why they were there.  Finally, I heard my other cousin yell my name, and turned around to Shane down on one knee.”

“Apparently he tried to put ‘Speechless’ on the speaker before kneeling but he got so nervous, and it wasn’t working that he said forget it.  So in the background of the proposal video, “She’s a Brick House” is playing!! Too funny!  Bottles of Moet and La Marca were popping all over!! It wasn’t on the 50 yard line, but it was at the stadium and everyone that I wanted to be there showed up. He couldn’t have made it more perfect.  However, if he could have made the Giants win the game, that would have been the icing on the cake!!”

How cute is that proposal story!!? I think Shane really knocked it out of the park with this MetLife Stadium proposal!
