Rose Garden Minimony, Colonial Park NJ | Ritika & Coby

Their Wedding Day | Rose Garden Minimony at Colonial Park, NJ

Rit & Coby’s rose garden minimony was such a perfect day. I’m always a sucker for intimate ceremonies like this one, but this one was extra special since Coby is my bestie, Tori Kelner‘s brother. 🙂 Ryan and I loved getting to be a part of this day and celebrate with Rit and Coby’s families! Despite rain dancing around t he forecast for the whole day, we only ended up with a brief rain during the ceremony (as Coby predicted). All of their guests stood surrounding them – umbrellas and all – for their ceremony, which honestly made the whole thing feel extra romantic and fairytale-esque.

I’m so excited to share these photos with beautiful portraits in the blooming rose garden, and sweet emotional moments, and all the celebratory energy! I’m in love with these pictures! Before we dive into all the photos, first let’s talk about Rit & Coby’s love story – it’s a good one.

Their Love Story

When I asked Rit & Coby to share with me one thing they love about each other, they gave the sweetest answers. Rit said, “I love how sweet & understanding Coby is. He gets all my annoyances, particularities (there are a lot hahahah) and always helps me be the best version of myself. He also cracks me up at all times!” Coby said, “I love how kind and loving Rit is. She would do anything for anyone, even a stranger. She has the best one liners!”

Rit & Coby’s first date was at a sports bar in their town called Arooga’s. Rit gave me all the details, “I got a glass of rose, he got a spicy margarita (very on brand for both of us), and he spilled half his ice cold water on me 😂 A few months after we met, Coby graduated med school and moved to CT. We did long distance for a little over a year, and then I made the move to CT also, and here we are! Coby will be doing a fellowship here in CT for another three years, so we are officially New Englanders now!”

On their date nights they love to try new food and new bars/restaurants or binging movies (particularly comedy mysteries!) Rit also said, We love to go on little trips, Coby loves to get me to do adventurous things like horseback riding, kayaking, rock climbing 😅 and I love to get him to come to a yoga class, go shopping, and go to a paint and sip class!”

The Proposal

You’ve got to hear how Coby popped the question! Rit tells the story best, “Coby proposed last March! My birthday is in February, and in January he told me to make sure my nails are done all the time after my birthday, so of course I was super on top of that hahaha. We went back to NJ for a weekend to visit our parents, and we decided to go to brunch at Cheesecake Factory. After that, we walked around the mall, and got ourselves a cute little Build A Bear.”

“We headed back to Coby’s parents house because Tori said she wanted to do Kelner Winery (our little tradition of having our own winery in the Kelner’s backyard with music, snacks, and of course WINE!). When we got there, I saw a beautiful set up, and thought that was part of the Kelner Winery set up, but turns out it was the setting where Coby proposed to me, and both our families were waiting in the house for us to celebrate. Such a sweet and special moment! And of course, we have amazing pictures from it, thanks to Tor!!!” Check out Tori’s blog post to see more of their perfect proposal!
