Lakewood Estate NY Wedding | Amanda & Nick

Their Wedding Day: Lakewood Estate NY Wedding

Amanda & Nick’s Lakewood Estate NY wedding was such a perfect celebration of their love! Back when Amanda first reached out to me she described her vision for the day, “The wedding is being held at the sweetest old farmhouse estate in upstate NY. The property has the most amazing greenery and trees and sits right besides a lake (That Nick is super excited he gets to fish in the morning of the wedding). I want our wedding to be romantic and whimsical but also relaxed and fun. I love all things greenery with light and airy neutrals like champagne and ivory. There will be lots of twinkle lights and  There is a lot of greenery and trees on the property that will house the most darling twinkle lights and mason jar tea lights.” Lakewood Estate was truly the most fitting venue for these two! The beautiful historic architecture and stunning grounds were the perfect setting for their wedding day!

I had so many favorite moments throughout the day! One being Amanda opening her gift from Nick – Post Malone tickets (!!!) – and seeing her excitement talking about it at the first look with him. I also loved seeing Nick and his buddies doing a little sunset fishing during the reception! Nick loves fishing and it was so cool to see him get to have a little piece of his passion included in the day, and how much fun they had with it.

I also loved that Amanda & Nick both switched to converse shoes during the reception, and Amanda’s dress change towards the end of the night was one of my all time favorites! Her converse, + heart shaped sunglasses totally made the whole look! I always LOVE a fun dance floor, but truly it gave me so much joy to see Nick and Amanda tearing up that dance floor together all night. They had so much together and it was contagious!! I’m obsessed with all the photos we took this day, and can’t wait to share my many favorites! But first…their love story!

Their Love Story

When I asked these two to share one thing they love about each other they gave the best answers. Amanda said, “Nick is the calm to my storm, he always keeps me grounded. He is so go with the flow and I’m a planner down to the minute. He helps me realize that we need to appreciate the here and now and not get so wrapped up in the planning! He’s my rock and my absolute best friend.” Nick said, “I love how caring and sweet Amanda is, she always takes others feelings into consideration and has a huge heart.”

They love a good date night involving tacos, or margaritas…or both! But Amanda says, “On a more low-key day you’ll find us at Nick’s parent’s lake house. We spend pretty much every weekend when it’s nice out at the lake. Nick is really into fishing so we are usually out on the boat fishing. On most days I’ll have a white claw and a good book in my hand ready to snap those catch of the day pics but on an occasion I’ll throw a line too!”

How They Met

Amanda & Nick met in college through a friend of Amanda’s who worked with Nick over the summer. Amanda told me, “A few days later classes began and in true Amanda fashion I was running late to my religion class. When I got to class, there was only one seat left so I hurried and sat down and as soon as I sat down someone behind me was pulling on my backpack ! I turned around ready to flip out and the person sitting behind me was Nick lol we had no idea we were taking the same class and we ended up being assigned group partners for the rest of the semester and the rest is history!”

The Proposal

You’ve got to hear how Nick proposed! Amanda tells it best, “Nick’s proposal was so out of the blue and caught me completely by surprise! He really is the only person who can actually catch me off guard and surprise me. Nick and I had planned a vacation to Maine in October and I sort of had a feeling he was gonna ask me when we were on vacation BUT that didn’t happen.  In fact the weekend before we left for vacation I had plans with my family to go pumpkin picking but my mom ended up hurting her back and couldn’t go.”

“On a whim I asked Nick if he would go with me just to grab some pumpkins and he said sure. We got to the farm and Nick wanted to walk through the orchard to get to the pumpkin patch. As we were walking through the orchard we stopped to take a few pictures and after Nick set up his go pro for one of the pictures he took my hand and got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him! I found out later that day that Nick had gotten the ring less than 24 hours before he asked me. When he got the ring he immediately called my dad and said he couldn’t wait any longer to give it to me!”
