Wildflower Lookout Engagement Session | Sarah & Matt

Their Session: Wildflower Lookout Engagement Session

Sarah & Matt’s Wildflower Lookout engagement session was a DREAM!! Seriously, someone pinch me! These rolling fields of wildflowers at the Wildflower Lookout in Ronks, PA create the most magical backdrop to take photos! This place has been on my bucket list of places to shoot for a while, and I was so pumped Sarah & Matt were down for the adventure!

These two are a BLAST! They kept me laughing the whole session, and were down for any pose or idea I threw their way! It was the best time, and the photos came out incredible! Not to mention, we got the most epic sunset at the end of the session, I couldn’t have mail ordered a more perfect day! I adore Sarah & Matt and absolutely love their love! The way they laugh and smile together in a fun=loving carefree spirited kind of way, is contagious and such a joy to be around! I can’t wait to photograph these two again on their wedding day!

I am beyond excited to share so many of my favorite photos from their session, but first you know I have to share a little bit of their love story!

Their Love Story

I asked Sarah & Matt to share one thing they love about each other. Sarah said, “I love how Matt is able to take charge when faced with a variety of situations. It is so reassuring to know he has my back and keeps calm under pressure when I may get stressed out.” Matt said he loves Sarah’s “lust for life and adventurous spirit.”

Sarah & Matt first met in April of 2017 while they were in the process of selecting grad school programs. Sarah said, “We were both attending a two-day admitted students event at Georgetown University and were immediately interested in each other from the moment we met.  We both even stayed an extra day in DC because we were so smitten and didn’t want to part ways!  At the time, Matt was stationed in Texas and I worked in NYC.  During and since those first few months we have spoken nearly every day, even while I traveled through Africa and he participated in military training.  Although I chose Georgetown and he chose Columbia for grad school, we persevered through almost three years of long distance across three continents.  We are now both based in DC and so happy to be together!”

The Proposal

You’ve got to hear the story of how Matt proposed! Sarah tells it best! She said, “Since our relationship began at Georgetown, Matt decided it was the perfect place to propose.  I had been on assignment in Africa and was scheduled to return to DC on December 21.  We were heading home for Christmas on December 23 so Matt had a very narrow window!  We went for drinks at one of our favorite rooftop bars in Georgetown, then Matt suggested we take a stroll around campus.  He made sure we stopped by some of my favorite spots, including the academic building where we met.  Then we popped into the most iconic building on campus, where he proposed in the foyer.”

“Although I wasn’t totally surprised by the proposal itself, I was very pleasantly surprised by the ring!  After the proposal, we walked to a classic restaurant right off campus, where Matt had champagne waiting and we enjoyed a lovely dinner next to the fireplace.  I LOVED IT!!! “

Sarah & Matt
