Alexa & Franklin’s Sayen Gardens engagement session was a blast! This sweet garden session felt like a fairytale from the lush whimsical greenery at Sayen and Alexa’s gorgeous long flowing red hair, to the playful joy that Alexa & Franklin share. Truly a dream engagement session! These two are so in love, and incredibly sweet together. It was so much fun to capture a little piece of their love story in images. I am so excited to share my favorite photos from this incredible session, but first, a little bit of their love story!
When I asked Alexa & Franklin to share with me one thing they love about each other, they gave the sweetest answers. Franklin told me, “I love how Alexa cracks me up all the time!” Alexa said, “I love how Franklin is always eager to tell me something new he learned!” These two first met in high school, and because they lived in the same town, they were on the same bus.
As the story goes, “Alexa’s twin sister was in Franklin’s Spanish class, and within a couple of days of the first day of school, her sister recognized him at the bus stop and they became acquainted. However, he developed a crush on Alexa from seeing her every day at the bus stop and eventually asked her sister for her phone number on their birthday to send her a text. From there, they started texting back and forth, which went on for some months until they both admitted they liked each other!” And the rest is history! 🙂
Now you’ve got to hear how these two got engaged! It’s such a good story! Alexa & Franklin gave me a little synopsis of the proposal! They said, “Alexa goes to Yale University and is working on her Ph.D. in chemistry, and they share an apartment there. They drive home most weekends and stay at Alexa’s house, where a lot of their relationship was built. On one Saturday, they went for a walk around their local park’s walking path, which they often do. But this time was a little different.
They came back to the house and Alexa went to unlock the back door. When she turned around, she found Franklin down on one knee. She thought he was joking at first, laughed, and turned away, but then realized there was really a ring there. She turned back and sort of squealed, “Wait, really?!?” Franklin was so nervous he barely said anything, but the look on his face was everything.” I love that Franklin proposed somewhere that was special to the foundations of their relationship. And even better that Alexa was totally surprised!!
Alexa & Franklin, thank you so much for having me photograph and document this beautiful season in your love story. You two are such a joy, and I had so much fun exploring Sayen Gardens with you two! I’m so excited for you both and all the adventures that lie ahead! Enjoy every minute of being fiances!! Sending the biggest hug & all my love! xoxo
