Spring Central Park Engagement Session, NYC | Krista & JC

A couple laughs together in front of a cherry blossom tree in Central Park, New York City.

Their Session:
Central Park, NYC

I had so much fun exploring Central Park during this gorgeous spring blooming season for Krista and JC’s session! Give me ALL the cherry blossoms!! ; ) These two are so much fun to be around, and it was an absolute joy to take their engagement photos in this iconic NYC landmark. Being that Krista & JC met in NYC, Central Park was a special location for them to choose for our session! Every time I visit Central Park I always find new spots to photograph, and being that everything was in bloom for spring time, these cherry blossoms are for sure a new favorite!

One of the things I love the most about photographing couples, is that I get to document a piece of their love story and relationship! You can tell that Krista & JC are best friends, and a perfect fit for each other. When I asked them what they love about each other, JC said, “I love Krista’s style and her independence. Also that she is wholesome and genuine.” And Krista told me, “I love JC’s loyalty to his friends and how he would drop anything to help a friend. He has a big heart even though he tries to hide it sometimes. He’s also really energetic and adventurous and I love his passion for everything and everyone he loves.”

Their Love Story

Krista and JC met at a happy hour at a bar in midtown Manhattan. It was a Fordham happy hour, and ironically neither of them went to Fordham. Krista didn’t feel like going out that night but was coaxed into it by her roommate. (And it’s a good thing she did!!) While they were at the bar, JC’s friend was hitting on Krista’s roommate, so Krista went over to help, but ended up talking to JC all night, so didn’t really end up helping. : ) JC asked Krista to go out on a date the following week, but by the end of the night changed the plans to go out the very next night.

And it was a date night to remember, for sure. Krista said, “We went to a French restaurant in meatpacking district. JC picked it because he heard it had a fun DJ after hours. But when we first got there it was super quiet and intimate and we really enjoyed our meal. But JC said he was nervous what he heard was wrong. Then, around 10pm they shut the lights and the DJ pumped up the music and everyone got really rowdy and danced on the chairs…it was the best 1st date I had ever been on! (Obviously lol) Every year after that we went back to that restaurant for our anniversary. Until 2 years ago it closed and we had to pick another restaurant : ( we chose Waverly Inn in West Village bc it’s been there for like 100 years so we figure it was a safe bet. We are really into our traditions ; )”

How sweet is their story?! I’m all about the traditions too, so I love that these two have a special way to celebrate their anniversary every year!

Want to know how JC popped the question?? These two were in Los Cabos, Mexico for Memorial Day weekend, and JC managed to totally surprise Krista with a proposal on this trip! Krista said, “We arrived on a Thursday night and he didn’t pop the question until Sunday night. It was after dinner, and it was just the two of us drinking wine on the back patio of our hotel room, which was right off the ocean. So it was just the two of us under the stars – it was perfect.” Does it get any more romantic than that?!

These two are the absolute sweetest and I can’t wait for their wedding at Paramount Country Club in September!! xoxo
