I first met Katie back in 2017 when I got to photograph her sister Rachel’s wedding day! When Katie reached out last summer because she was engaged and starting to plan her wedding, I was SO excited! 🙂
When we started talking about engagement photos, Katie had the awesome idea to take pictures at the beach and in her parents’ AMAZING backyard! Seriously, it’s the kind of yard that dreams are made of, with a million different gorgeous spots to take photos! I could have easily spent several hours there. Pure magic. On top of the incredible location choices, Katie and Kevin also wanted to include their pup, Riley in their photos! Riley is so sweet and she even wore an adorable pineapple collar for the shoot – PERFECTION!!!
Katie & Kevin are so much fun. Katie told me that one thing she loves about Kevin is how he always makes her laugh. And through their whole session Kevin had Katie (and me) just constantly cracking up and having the best time. And Kevin definitely gets a “machine gun kisses” award, because he crushed it with the best rapid fire kisses every single time to get Katie’s smile lit up. It was the best. I just love these two, and had such a blast spending an evening capturing their love.
Katie & Kevin have the sweetest love story. These two first met on a dating app and their first date was an early morning coffee date at Dunkin Donuts. Katie said, “I have never woken up at 6am to get ready for a “first date” haha! We ended up grabbing Dunkin Donuts and we talked and it kind of just worked. From there we ended up hanging out a lot and going on a lot of stupid and fun and silly dates during our last semester of college. It turned out that we had met once before at a friends apartment, but we didn’t talk at all. We actually had a lot of mutual friends so it was kind of weird we never met before. He asked me to be his girlfriend at the Laurita Winery food truck festival right where his uncle got married. I remember telling my family for the first time about him and saying about how the timing wasn’t great but it would be like someone handing me a million dollars and then being like no thanks. The rest is history!” I’d say the early morning coffee date was well worth it! 😉
Want to hear how Kevin popped the question? He pulled off an amazing surprise! This story gave me chills when I read it! As Katie tells it, “Going off the Laurita theme, we planned to go to one of the food truck festivals on June 29, 2019 and I kind of had ideas that it might happen then but he kept throwing me off so I didn’t think it would happen. He was all nervous that morning when we woke up and immediately left to go get a haircut and I was kind of like uhhhh okay? Haha! We ended up getting to Laurita and his cousin “texted him that they were there with his wife’s coworkers”. (The same cousin is a freelance photographer). So we met up with them and got our chairs set up and everything and then he explained that his cousin wasn’t there for work and neither was everyone else and then he shouted to my whole family and his whole family that was hiding behind a set of bushes and told me that he wanted everyone to be there to watch him ask me to marry him. We spent the rest of the day at Laurita with our whole family celebrating and drinking wine. It was amazing- I was so surprised that everyone had come because I was really convinced everyone was doing what they said they were doing that weekend. It was fantastic!”
Thank you so much for having me be a part of this incredibly special season! I am so excited for you guys and really looking forward to celebrating with you next year! Enjoy this time of being fiances! Sending you two, and Riley a huge hug! Love you guys! xoxo
[…] they chose to have their first look in Katie’s parents’ backyard (also where we took their engagement photos!). And I loved Kevin’s sweet reaction to seeing his bride for the first time! […]
