Their Session: Bucknell University Engagement Session

Alexa & Jake’s Bucknell University engagement session felt like walking the movie set of their love story. Bucknell is where it all began, and these two first met and started dating. I loved getting to walk through the campus with them and see the places IRL that played a big role in their story. The dorm building where they lived freshman year, where they took economics class together, and the quad where they would hang out….all made for perfect photo back drops! I always love when couples choose a meaningful location to take their engagement photos! I had the best time with Alexa and Jake, and have SO many favorite photos to share! But first, to properly set the scene, you’ve got to read about their love story!

Their Love Story

When I asked these two to share with me one thing they love about each other, they gave really sweet replies. Alexa said, “I love how kind and understanding Jake is. No matter the situation, he is always respectful. That means a lot to me.” Jake said, “Alexa is the most loving person I have ever met. She is incredibly thoughtful, supportive and caring. I love her with my whole heart.”

How They Met

I asked Alexa how she and Jake first met, and she gave me the inside scoop! She told me, “We met our first semester of freshman year at Bucknell University. We lived in the same dorm and were in the same economics class. After I learned that Jake had previously taken economics in high school, I asked if he could help me with future assignments/studying. This was strictly platonic – he seemed like a smart, easy-going guy and I wanted all the academic help I could get! We slowly built a friendship from there and started dating during the summer before sophomore year. My first instincts about Jake were spot on – he’s the smartest, most easy-going, and kindest person I know. I’m so grateful to have already spent eight years with him and can’t wait to marry him.” I love this story and think it’s so sweet that they started as friends first, and built their relationship foundation from there.

Our Proposal

Now for the proposal! You have to hear how Jake popped the question. Alexa tells it best. She said, “Jake’s company hosts an annual charity auction. This year everything being auctioned was listed in an app. Jake had me scroll through the app to see if there was anything I would be interested in. I saw that a sunset cruise out of Chelsea Piers was listed and I thought it would be a great activity for me, Jake and some of his coworkers. Little did I know, Jake had already booked a sunset cruise out Chelsea Piers and showed me that list just to plant the seed in my head! Leading up to the proposal, he built out a whole story about which coworkers I would be meeting. Come time for the cruise, it was just me and Jake on the dock and he proposed. He got me good. We then had a beautiful private sunset cruise together! It was really sweet.”

When I asked them what’s something they love most about being engaged, Alexa said, “I really enjoy daydreaming about our first dance and our future together.” (I know their first dance is going to be amazing, just from the little bit of twirls and dancing we did during engagement photos!) Jake said, “I love planning out our honeymoon, our engagement-moon (yes we are milking this) and all of our future adventures together.”
