Their Session: San Juan Capistrano & Victoria Beach

Over the summer my little sister, Megan, got ENGAGED to the love of her life, and I had the honor (along with my bestie/second shooter Tori Kelner), of photographing their engagement session! Megan & Daniel’s Southern California engagement session was UNREAL and one for the books! We went to the San Juan Capistrano area first, and then caught the sunset over at Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach, CA. I have to say, SoCal scenery can’t be topped! Every spot was so gorgeous!

Let me dive into their love story! 🙂 It’s a good one.

Their Love Story

Megan & Daniel met in person for the first time on their first date. They originally connected over social media & after the fourth time Daniel asked Megan on a date, she finally agreed. Megan said, “He was late, disheveled, forgot his wallet, driving crazy in traffic – you name it. As someone who is very organized, it totally put me on edge! He had just gotten off of a 12-hour shift from working in the hospital but didn’t want to reschedule or postpone since I had finally agreed to a date. Poor guy, I had no idea at the time… I was just thinking “this guy seems like a mess!”

Their first date was at a local bar/restaurant called Route 66 in Glendora. Megan told me after they ate at the restaurant, “we drove up into the mountains to look at the city skyline and talk. We got to know each other pretty well for a first date- and spent a lot of time talking about astrology and spirituality. Daniel said he fell in love from the first date… but I wasn’t so sure. I didn’t really feel “smitten” until our third date. :P”

Megan FaceTimed me after Daniel proposed and told me all about it! They went out to dinner and then Daniel took Megan to the place where they had their first kiss – the most magical overlook, which happened to have a beautiful sunset painting the sky that evening! Daniel even recorded a drone video of the whole proposal! How sweet is that? It’s safe to say that was one of the best FaceTime calls I’ve gotten! 😉

When I asked these two to share one thing they love about each other, Megan said, “Just one thing? 😉 I love his bravery. He is one of the bravest people I know and yet one of the most caring and thoughtful. Even though he’s brave, he can be vulnerable with me… that makes me feel like he lets me in on a part of him that not many others get to see.” Daniel said, “I love her goofiness because it always brightens my day.”

Megan & Daniel

Megan & Daniel, I couldn’t be happier for you two and all that’s ahead in this next chapter! I’m so honored I got to capture such a special season of your lives, and can’t wait for all the other good stuff (and photos ;)) to come! I love you guys so much!! 🙂 xoxox

Can’t get enough of these two?! Me neither! Fast forward a bit and check out their maternity session at Joshua Tree National Park! 🙂

  1. […] may recognize these two from some other sessions on my blog (like this Laguna Beach session)! I’m lucky enough to have my sister and her hubby to model for me any time I want to explore […]
