Rainy Central Park Engagement Session | Caroline & Jim

Their Session:
Central Park, NYC

Rain can’t stop these two from being the cutest ever!!! Central Park was the perfect back drop on this rainy day because we practically had the park ALL to ourselves! We were able to get some incredible shots at the iconic spots without any people walking through our shots – a photographer’s DREAM! Caroline and Jim were such troopers and they toughed it out the whole session. I might be biased, but it was totally worth it for these gorgeous images!! It was honestly so magical and the rain itself made everything a little more romantic and Notebook-esque if you ask me! 🙂

Their Love Story

These two met when they were both out in New Brunswick with their friends after graduating from college! Caroline was with two friends, and Jim noticed that her and her friends kept making trips to the bathroom (a girl can never go alone, right!?) Jim and his friend, Vinny, walked over to them because Jim just knew he wanted to talk to Caroline! He said she looked so beautiful and was smiling so much! It was quick conversation because Caroline was leaving to go somewhere else but they connected over their love of music (rap, specifically!) Jim asked for her number and texted her that night to tell her he really enjoyed meeting her and would love to go out some time soon! Whew, go Jim!!

Caroline says, “After finally agreeing to go out with Jim, he took me to Harvest Moon in New Brunswick. I was running so late because I was coming from Edison, NJ during rush hour. When I finally got to New Brunswick I got nervous about leaving my North Face jacket in the car so I showed up to the restaurant wearing two jackets. It was a good conversation starter because when I took the North Face one off I was so flustered. I had 2 jackets on the back of my chair and I felt very silly lol. After all that though, I remember having a great time and wanting to see him again!”

Here’s how Jim popped the big question! As Caroline tells it, “The day we got engaged was July 28, 2018. Jim told me we’re going to celebrate our 4 year dating anniversary that day and to make sure I had a nice outfit for dinner. He didn’t tell me exactly where we were going but when I saw the signs for Hoboken I knew we were celebrating in our favorite place! He got us a room at the W hotel and told me he has some plans for the night and to “just go along with it.”  In my mind, we were going into the city because we were walking towards the Path. However, Jim said he wanted to take a detour onto Pier A. I noticed a helicopter flying above us and all of a sudden Jim started talking about helicopters and other random things. When we got further down the pier, Jim started talking about our future and how much he loves me. He then turned me around (so the photographer could get pictures lol!) and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was so shocked because I was convinced it wasn’t happening that night, that I put out my right hand! There are pictures of Jim almost putting the ring on my right hand! We obviously realized right away but we still laugh at that. After he proposed we called our families and friends and then did a little photoshoot. After, he took me to the Chart House and we celebrated more with the most amazing view. It is a night I always will remember!”

Caroline & Jim

I love how much these two adore one another. Caroline loves how patient Jim is with her and that he is always motivating her! Jim says that he loves Caroline’s ability to make him laugh even when he doesn’t want to and that he loves how big her heart is!

I am so excited for their February “winter wonderland” wedding day and I love that they value adding lots of personal touches to show off who they are as a couple to their loved ones! It’s going to be such a beautiful way to celebrate their love story!

Caroline and Jim, you two are the sweetest and your hearts are so beautiful. I had so much fun exploring Central Park in the crazy rain with you two and I can’t get over how stunning these photos came out! I’d happily get caught in a downpour with you two any day of the week! Thank you for trusting me with your love story and for allowing me to come along this journey with you! Love you both so much!!! Next stop, the wedding! Xoxo
